Choosing Your Battles: Type B Mom’s Guide to Sanity

Introduction:
Parenting is basically a never-ending game of pick your fights wisely—because if I tried to win every battle, I’d be exhausted before breakfast. Some hills are worth dying on (no, you cannot launch spaghetti across the room), but others? I let those slide for the sake of everyone’s sanity. Thanks to TikTok, I’ve come to accept my role as the ✨ Type B, get-it-done-without-losing-your-cool mom.✨ ("Type B mom" is a term used to describe a mother who is relaxed, easy-going, and embraces a more flexible and less structured approach to parenting and family life, often prioritizing spontaneity and a "roll-with-the-punches" attitude.)

Lets Dive in

1. Socks, Shoes, and Whatever Else Isn’t That Serious

I used to stress when my kid walked out the door in mismatched socks, crazy masks or refused to wear a jacket. Now? As long as they’re not shivering or committing a fashion crime so bold it stops traffic, I let them live their truth. If they want to learn the hard way that flip-flops in winter are a bad idea—so be it. Natural consequences do the parenting for me.

2. Food Fights (Not the Messy Kind)

Is every meal balanced? No. Does my toddler think a single bite of broccoli should earn an award? Yes. I used to stress about making Pinterest-worthy meals—now I just aim for something edible and vaguely nutritious. Some nights, that’s homemade stir-fry. Other nights? It’s chips and apple slices.

3. Screen Time Debates

I could fight the battle against screens constantly, but I’ve learned to compromise instead. If a show lets me drink my coffee in peace or finish a blog post without interruption, I’m calling that a win. And honestly? Their little brains will be fine—even if they can recite the entire episode of Bluey.

4. The Battles Worth Fighting

Of course, I pick my hills carefully. Kindness? Non-negotiable. Respect? Absolutely. But everything else? I’ve realized that choosing peace over pointless power struggles has made life way more enjoyable.

Conclusion:
Parenting isn’t about controlling everything—it’s about preserving your energy for what actually matters. So if you see me out in public with kids wearing Crocs, leggings, an oversized sweatshirt and humming random songs I heard through out the day, just know—I’m out here choosing my battles and keeping my sanity intact.
